Jan Sahas Foundation
Jan Sahas Foundation is a non-profit organization working towards facilitating safe migration of informal workers in the country. India is home to over 140 million migrant workers who are primarily engaged in the construction and textiles sectors. Most of these workers come from marginalized and poor households, and they move out of their hometowns in search of better opportunities for themselves and their families.
A large number of these migrant workers face multiple issues and challenges at multiple levels. They do not have access to government schemes, have to face bad working conditions, no fixed working hours, no access to protective equipment, etc. Through our interventions we are working with the government and industry to ensure their welfare and safe migration.
Our Work
There are around 140 million internal migrant workers in India who are forced to migrate annually, often along with their families, to work in India`s informal sector. Employed predominantly in the construction & textile industries, these are migrants of necessity, not choice, trying to find better opportunities for themselves & their families.
We are working in 13 states across India together with governments, industry, and other partner organisations to affect change in the lives of these migrant workers, their families, and communities.

To strengthen the delivery systems of priority social security schemes such as One Nation One Ration, and Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) card, Ayushman Bharat, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, PM Awas Yojna and MGNREGA etc.
Support workers in securing assistance from the government on multiple issues including non-payment of wages, cases of forced labor, harassment etc. through our helpline.
Working with the industry to ensure workers are responsibly recruited i.e., are working under safe and fair employment conditions
See the Light
This intervention is aimed at reducing the prevalance of violence against women and children from the communities we work with. We believe that a sustainable difference can be made only if prevention, response and rehabilitation are tackled simultaneously through a holistic approach. It’s crucial to engage with men and boys to bring about behavioural change and act together as a structural driver for prevention of violence against women and girls.
Over the next 5 years, we will work to comprehensively reduce prevalence of sexual violence against women by 25% and empower 250,000 survivors, in 200 districts across India and other parts of South Asia through direct support and collaboration.

Testimonials.
I never weary of great churches. It is my favorite kind of mountain scenery. Mankind was never so happily inspired as when it made a cathedral.
The Church must be intelligible to the simple as well as to the shrewd.
For where God built a church, there the Devil would also build a chapel.
The Church must be intelligible to the simple as well as to the shrewd.
